About our Duduk Art Studio
Hovhannes Norayri Khudaverdyan, born in 1987 in Yerevan, graduated from Secondary School N. 158 named after Movses Gyorgisyan (1993–2003).
He began playing the duduk at the age of 13. At 17, he studied privately with a master for one year. Afterwards, he served in the army from 2005 to 2007.
After returning from military service, he planned to continue his studies, but the premature death of his teacher left his education unfinished. This marked the end of his student years. Then he began performing at various events, including funeral ceremonies, for about 10 years. Those years became an important period of experience for him, allowing him to deeply understand the duduk and its musical expression.
Since 2010, he has been studying reed as a plant in order to craft duduk reeds (ghamish). After gaining 15 years of experience, he has mastered this craft. Today, he produces duduk reeds not only for musicians in Armenia, but also for professional duduk players in abroad.
He is self-taught has founded his own workshop called Duduk Art Studio. Currently, he continues his work with the goal of making Armenian culture more recognizable and appreciated both by Armenians and by people around the world.
